First things first, both the Critical XR and XRR are quality power supplies that will provide stable, consistent power to any rotary and/or coil machine you can throw at them. After that, it's all about features and what you may need or expect from your power supply.

Here are some of the key features these two units have in common, and a few reasons why you may want to step up to the XRR.

Both the XR and XRR have a session meter/timer that lets you enter your hourly rate, keep track of how long you tattoo, and then calculate the cost of the session for your clients. Multiple modes are available so you can adjust it to suit your personal preference.

Both power supplies are equipped with a bright TFT display featuring selectable colour themes and large easy-to-read fonts.

Critical’s popular “pedal override button” gives you the option of going footswitch-free and powering your machines with just the push of a button.

Quickly becoming the industry standard, both power supplies include a Jumpstart mode as well as maintained footswitch modes.

What do you get with that extra “R”?

The Critical XRR is equipped with the same features and creature comforts of the classic XR, but with a few bonuses…

First up is a built-in wireless receiver that allows you to pair your Critical XRR with the Critical CXP19 wireless footswitch (not included). So if you want to continue using a footswitch but are thinking about cutting the cord, this may be reason enough to jump up to the XRR.

Looking for more?

How about dual-channel capability with 6 built-in presets; three for each channel. The Standard XR only offers single-channel capability, but 6 presets on that one channel.

Last but not least, Critical has streamlined the design inside and out, giving the unit a slicker look, and some of the shared features like Jumpstart and presets are more easily accessible on the XRR.
